To the wonderful Partners and staff at Carbon.
As we all head off for Christmas and new year there’s a chance to reflect on the year just about gone now. Wow – what a year it’s been! I won’t bore you all pontificating about Brexit and Trump. I’d rather pause and reflect on what we’ve all done; reflect on the possibility of what we’ll all do next. Carbon is all about the individual. Individuals who choose to share the work that they choose to do. It’s all about each and every one of you. When I pause to reflect I think about the special people that are here. About what you each achieve every single day. It’s not always easy – nothing truly significant is ever easy though!
So, it’s the time of year to be with family and friends. To share quality time together and to reflect on what’s important in our lives. A year of so much change in all of our lives I’m sure of that. My favourite thought for this year only came the other day. I was attending a 70th birthday party of a dear friend with Rhian. He chose to say a few words to the friends and family he’d assembled to celebrate with him. He talked about living a life full of memories and not of dreams. It really struck a chord with me. Dreams are great, but it’s making them a reality and then a memory that’s remarkable and priceless.
So I hope that you will all have the opportunity to create some wonderful memories over the Christmas period and in the new year when it comes. Oh and remember this question posed by Jim Rohn: “Will you look after you for me if I look after me for you?” Look after yourselves, your families and friends. Do that and wonderful things will happen in 2017.
Merry Christmas and I look forward to what we’ll all do together in 2017.
PS: A date for diary 18 & 19 May 2017 for the Annual Partner Meeting, which this year will be held at the Hotel du Vin in Bristol. More details to follow in the new year.
