I am delighted to announce that Emyr Evans will be joining Carbon effective 1 January 2019. Emyr is a chartered accountant with over 25 years’ experience. He trained with Deloitte and has supported businesses and other organisations of all sizes ever since. His expertise in advising business leaders around structure, financing and operation of their organisations has been applied from start ups to well established owner managed businesses, professional practices to charities and all points between.
Emyr has been Carbon’s accountant since 2010 and has an intimate knowledge of the business, our model and the development of our platform. Emyr will become the Director of Finance and will lead the finance team in the Hub ensuring that it continues to grow and develop with the firm.
At the same time, Emyr will look to provide an ongoing advisory service to businesses on all aspects of their finances, acquisitions, disposals and raising debt and equity. There are likely to be many opportunities for Partners to add value to their clients with the development of this capability. Likewise for referrals from the client base this new advisory offering will create. More news in the new year.
Emyr has been a great support to Carbon, and I am chuffed that he has agreed to join us in this senior management position, working alongside me, Linda and Rob and the excellent Finance Team.
If you have any questions about this appointment please don’t hesitate to ask me.
Regrettably, Adele Carter has decided that she would like to explore opportunities outside of Carbon and has resigned. Given the nature of her role, and the fact that she had visibility of lots of confidential information, she leaves with immediate effect and will not be returning to the business.
Many of you will have worked with Adele in some capacity, whether that be during your path to join Carbon, or more recently as part of Adele’s focus on client referrals. We are grateful for her efforts over her time with Carbon and wish her well in whatever she chooses to do next.
We will be continuing to work on a number of key business development initiatives over the coming months which will be designed to promote collaboration and team working, as well as driving key central efforts around new client acquisition. Keep an eye on our newsletters for updates!
While I have spoken to many Partners recently about our wider service proposition, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any business development related queries, or indeed have any feedback around how we continue to support you to grow your business.
Let's look back at what people loved checking out about Carbon in October.
The Carbon Law Partners website once again experienced its best month, bettering September’s record-breaking performance with a 27% increase in pageviews and new users. There was also a jump in viewers in the South East and South West of England, along with a huge 68% boost to our South Wales audience.
Top 5 Carbon People (By Pageviews)
Our Flourish With Carbon careers website experienced a 55% surge in pageviews, while our social presence continued to grow across LinkedIn (surpassing 500 company followers), Twitter and Instagram. All in all, Carbon continues to flourish.
OUR NAME IN PRINT.
We're pleased to report that our PR strategy is gaining ground. We've been featured 14 times over the past few weeks in publications such as:
The Law Society Gazette
New Law Journal
This noise is a key part of our Business Development Strategy. We will keep you updated on any further coverage. We amplify these pieces on social media, so please do share, re-post, retweet. Every bit of noise is valuable to all of us.
NEW TALENT CAMPAIGN.
From the end of November through to the end of January we will be running a new campaign to attract more great Partners to Carbon. The campaign led by Marc and Lauren, working with Brand & Communications, is focussed on the benefits of breaking free from the traditional environment, and amplifying how much easier that is with Carbon.
This campaign will be rolled out over all social media channels - Twitter, Linked In, Facebook and Instagram, and we will be using video, creative visuals and blogs to get our messages across. We will be aiming to make sure that these land under the noses of the right people through targeted advertising, but as always, we'd love your help through retweeting, posting, commenting, which will help us spread the word even further.
Thank you as always for your support with this – we remain firmly focused on attracting great Partners who will continue to compliment your practice, and to support Carbon’s growth, benefiting all.
FAST GROWTH 50.
As you know Carbon were one of the key sponsors for the 2018 Fast Growth 50 Awards which took place on Friday 19th October. We created lots of targeted noise on social networks in the lead up to the event, as well as sending a small, quirky gift ahead of the night to this year's entrants. These were very well received.Carbon also had a full page advert on the back of the Fast Growth 50 supplement which was distributed on the night and published in the Western Mail following the event.
Representing Carbon on the night were Michael, Linda, David Martin, Sue El Hachmi, Matt Huggett and Neville Catton (and guests). The dinner attracted 800 guests, key business people from across Wales who gathered at the Motorpoint Arena to learn who had topped the fastest growing business charts. It was a hugely successful event with Michael taking centre stage, presenting the final and key award of the night - The Fastest Growing Business in Wales to ALS.
Overall, a very successful event which considerably raised Carbon’s profile with our key target audience. We look forward to building on this over the coming months.
Thanks to those who have responded so far but for those who haven't a quick reminder to let Judith know if you can make it along to the Hub for drinks on Friday 14th December.
